Heroes-Bowie by Sukita
Oeo Firenze, Nozze di Figaro and the Metropolitan City of Florence, present Heroes – Bowie by Sukita, a retrospective dedicated to the icon of pop culture, David Bowie portrayed by the acclaimed master of Japanese photography, Masayoshi Sukita
Seeing David Bowie on stage opened up my eyes to his creative genius. Bowie was different to the other rock and rollers, he had something special that I knew I had to photograph” said Sukita.
The exhibition will open at Palazzo Medici Riccardi, the seat of the Metropolitan City of Florence, from 30 March to 28 June 2019.
It will feature 60 large scale photographs, including some national premieres, retracing the collaboration between the rock and pop legend and the master photographer, that has spanned over 40 years.
On display will be not only the iconic images for the cover of the album Heroes but also the historical photographs from Sukita’s personal archive illustrating a friendship which started in the 70s.
Florence pays its personal tribute to Bowie, hosting the exhibition in one of his most historical and enchanting buildings. Old meets new, and ticket holders will have the opportunity to admire the outstanding works that Sukita has dedicated to his friend and artist bowie, and also to visit the prestigious building.
Throughout the three months of the exhibition, many side events will be dedicated to Bowie. Nozze di Figaro will coordinate a lineup of acoustic concert, in the courtyard of Palazzo Medici while the bookshop will have a wide variety of books and merchandising items available for his fans, including the exhibition catalogue edited by Oeo Firenze.
