The restoration of Florence’s “Biancone”, live as it happens
Guided tours of the restoration site of the Fountain of Neptune, known as Biancone, in Piazza della Signoria, are now available. The fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo has donated 1.5 million euro over the three year period 2016-2018, through the Art Bonus scheme
Face to Face with Biancone, is a creative, cultural initiative offered to locals and tourists, during the course of the restoration of the Fountain of Neptune, one of the symbols of Florence.
Those who are interested will be able to take a close look at the renovation work of the entire Neptune’s Fountain by Bartolomeo Ammannati. The project is funded by the fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo, donating 1.5 million euros through the “Art Bonus” scheme.
The free guided tours of the restoration site of this monument, which dates back to the second half of the 16th century, are available upon prior reservation at www.nettunofirenze.it which is following the project step by step. The work will include a cleaning of the marble and bronze surfaces, and the creation of a new water treatment and recirculation system.
The project is curated by the Directorate of Technical Services and Fine Arts of the City of Florence, and is entrusted to RAM, Restauri Artistici e Monumentali.
