Events in Florence and the Metropolitan area in August 2020

Exhibitions. Palazzo Strozzi will host Aria dedicated to Argentinian artist, Tomas Saraceno. From 6 to 29 August the Medici tapestries designed by artist Bronzino, Pontorno and Salviati will go on display at Palazzo Vecchio in Florence as part of the exhibition The return of Joseph, Prince of dreams.
Florence’s Piazza Santissima Annunziata and Piazza Pitti will continue to be invaded by Wolves Are Coming, the monumental exhibition by Chinese artist Liu Rowang.
Museo degli Innocenti will host Children Forever: Childhood and Illustration in the Art of the early 20th Century, collating work by some of the most prominent futurist artists.
Two major shows will be held at Palazzo Medici Riccardi. “Tutankhamun: a Journey to Eternity ” will be open until 31 August while the photographic exhibition dedicated to Kurt Cobain and the Grunge revolution will continue until 18 October.
Cinema. In Florence, the two outdoor cinemas of the Nelson Mandela Forum, Arene di Marte, will screen two films per night until 12 September.
Arena Grande will show this season’s box office hits, while Arena Piccola will be dedicated to arthouse cinema.
As part of Estate Fiorentina, the Cloister of Santa Maria Novella will also become an open-air cinema.
The 73rd Estate Fiesolana will take place as planned until 31 August. The program has been scaled down from the line up that was announced back in March but the festival will maintain the original film programme.
the Scandicci Open City Festival will be back until the 27 September bringing over 120 events across the districts and the surrounding hills.
