Events in Florence and the metropolitan area in september 2021

This is a selection of events taking place in August 2021 in Florence and the Metropolitan area. The full programme is listed on the area’s official tourism website, Feel Florence

Estate Fiorentina will continue until 30th September, bringing events across the metropolitan area. On the outskirts of Florence, Estate Fiesolana will present its last events while Scandicci Open City’s will continue until 24 September and Barberino Estate until 25.

Festivals dedicated to the month of September will take place in Pontassieve, Capraia and Limite which will host Palio con la Monta on 13th. More traditional events with Palio delle Contrade in Fucecchio on 26 September. After the cancellation of its 2020 edition, Festa del Perdono will be back in Figline Valdarno until 7 September.

Dante 700: numerous events will commemorate the 700th anniversary of the Supreme Poet. From 23 September Museum of Bargello will host the exhibition La mirabile Visione The mirable Vision: Dante and the Divine Comedy in the symbolist imagery which explores the theme of Dante’s legacy in the second half of the nineteenth century. The Uffizi Gallery will present a virtual exhibition dedicated to the collection of 88 drawings known as ‘Dante Istoriato’ by Federico Zuccari.

Exhibitions: The show Inside Dali will be inaugurated at Florence’s Cattedrale dell’Immagine on 15 September. The evocative multisensory will focus on the life of the renown catalan artist.

Last chance to visit Tutankhamon at the Galleria delle Carrozze of Palazzo Medici Riccardi, closing on 30th September. The palace will also hosts Anima – the magic of animation from Snowwhite to Goldrake, the exhibition dedicated to the most celebrated cartoon’s icons, closing on 17 October. The 47th Exhibition of Cutting Tools will be held in Scarperia until 19 September.

Music – The electronic music Festival, Decibel Open Air, will be back at Visarno Arena on 11 and 12 September. Rignano sull’Arno will organize the Festival ‘Sounds and Colours in Tuscany’ with a series of events until 11 September. On the 15 Teatro Puccini will host a concert by Ukranian musician and composer Lubomyr Melnyk, internationally renowned as the prophet of the piano”.

This month Manifattura Tabacchi will be turned into a vibrant cultural space offering talks, events and exhibitions. The 4th ‘God is Green’ will take place from 15 to 21 September.

Food Festivals – Wine will take centre stage at the Festival of Chianti Classico in Greve in Chianti from 10 to 12 September. An awaited tradition, the fair of wine and local produce, Bacco Artigiano, will be back in Rufina this year from 23 to 26

Sports – Vivi lo Sport, the fair of Sports and Spare Time which has been taking place for over 20 years at Foro Boario in Borgo San Lorenzo, will be back from 9 to 12 September.
