Florence and Metropolitan Area: events January 2023

Here is a rundown of events scheduled for January 2023 in Florence and the surrounding area. The announcements are taken from Feel Florence, the official tourism site of the Municipality of Florence and the metropolitan city area.

In Florence until 15th January, the Florence Ice Village at the Fortezza da Basso, with the biggest ice rink in Europe and the big Ferris wheel, the Florence Eye, 55 metres high.
Exhibitions – At Palazzo Medici Riccardi, until 8th January 2023, “Passion of the 1900s. From Paul Klee to Damien Hirst”, dedicated to the masters of the twentieth century. And until 29th January the painting “The Adoration of the Magi” is on exhibition, that according to one study could be attributed to Rembrandt. Palazzo Strozzi is hosting, until 22nd January “Olafur Eliasson – In Your Time” the biggest exhibition dedicated to one of the most original and visionary contemporary artists of our time. The Cattedrale dell’Immagine is hosting the exhibition dedicated to the street art of Banksy until 26th February. Until 26th March at the Museo degli Innocenti, the anthology dedicated to the genial Dutch artist Maurits Cornelis Escher. In Sesto Fiorentino, until 16th April, “The White Gold of Sesto Fiorentino. Works of the eighteenth century from the Museum Ginori” on display in the “Ernesto Ragionieri” library. Extended until 30th April the exhibition of the triptych of Nicolas Froment in the Convent Bosco ai Frati in San Piero a Sieve. Until 30th July the Glass Museum of Empoli is hosting “Transparent history. Roman glass in Empoli”, an exhibition which is showing the results of the archeological excavations carried out in the city centre.
