Here is a selection of events taking place in June 2018 in the Metropolitan City of Florence. The programme is listed on the area’s official tourist website:
June marks the start of Estate Fiorentina, with an exciting lineup of exhibitions, concerts and various exciting events. This is also the month when Florence will celebrate its patron, St. John the Baptist. The key moment on 24 June, is the big final match of Calcio Storico taking take place in Piazza Santa Croce, in the afternoon. The celebrations will end with the traditional fireworks display.
Exhibitions – From 2 June to the 14 October, Forte Belvedere will host “Gong”, the show dedicated to Eliseo Mattiacci one of the most acclaimed representatives of Contemporary Art. More contemporary art in Palazzo Medici Riccardi, where the exhibition “I Mondi di Calder” will be held until 29 July.
From 21 June Gallerie delle Statue at the Uffizi Gallery and the Boboli Gardens will host the first large-scale retrospective of Fritz Konig, one of the most prominent sculptors of the 20th century.
From 12 to 29 June Palazzo Pitti will host Pitti Immagini with shows and events for the sessions: Bimbo, Uomo and Filati.
Food and Handicraft –  Fiera Agricola Mugellana is back for its 38th edition from 7 to 10 June. The trade fair in Borgo San Lorenzo will showcase local excellence from the agricultural and farming sectors. The second edition of Caruso Wine Festival will be held in Lastra a Signa on 9 and 10 June, bringing together Italian and international food and wine producers. From 15 to 17 June Montelupo will host the International Ceramics Festival, while the Steak championship will be held in San Casciano. the tasty Sagra of Brioches with ice cream is back at Pieve di San Pancrazio in San Casciano From 28 June.
Music – The most important event this month is Firenze Rocks 2018, scheduled at Visarno Arena from 14 to 17 June. Some of the world’s most famous bands will be performing on stage including Foo Fighters, Guns N’Roses, Iron Maiden e Ozzy Osbourne.
