Let’s start with art. In the Galleria delle Carrozze in Palazzo Medici Riccardi, “Viaggio di Luce,” which accompanies works by Claudio Parmiggiani and Abel Herrero, is on view until 21st Feb. In the Basilica of San Lorenzo, “Pulcherrima testimonia. Hidden Treasures in the Archdiocese of Florence” displays a synthesis of the artistic heritage preserved in the vast territory of the diocese. Outside Florence, we point out the exhibition dedicated to the Master of the Straus Madonna at the Museum of St. Francis in Greve in Chianti. In Pontassieve, “Fernando Farulli in Piombino” on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the artist’s birth. The 150th anniversary of Galileo Chini’s birth is celebrated at the Chini Museum in Borgo San Lorenzo with an anthological exhibition of his works. Important anniversaries also for music: the 100th anniversary of the death of pianist and composer Ferruccio Busoni is remembered in Empoli, his hometown, with a series of concerts: on the 14th and 24th of February. Maestro Giacomo Puccini also died100 years ago: a gala to remember his works, on 24th February at the Teatro del Popolo in Castelfiorentino. February is also Carnival time. Until 19th March, every Saturday and Sunday, there will be the rice fritters of San Donato in Collina, a hamlet near Rignano sull’Arno. And more festivities of various kinds around Shrove Tuesday. Finally, we would like to remind you that, until 10th June, the 55-metre-high Ferris wheel “Florence Eye” is located in Piazza Vittorio Veneto.
